Gulf Coast Real Estate Back on Track

It has been exactly one year since Hurricane Katrina destroyed the Gulf Coast. With winds up to 175 miles per hour, this category 4 storm leveled cities, took the lives of 1,800 people and caused damages in excess of $81 billion.
Logic might tell us that people would be leery to return to such a disaster-stricken wasteland, but the reality is that the Gulf Coast has breathtaking views and scenery that’s affordable. That, combined with the billions in state and federal aid has encouraged residents to tough it out, rebuild and restore their lives back to normal.
In addition to new homes, huge casinos like Harrah’s are popping up and pumping up the prices of Gulf Coast homes. Katrina threw a heavy punch, but Gulf Coast residents are hardly down for the count.
